A heavy downpour in the early morning did not stop 500 participants from joining the Peace Road Fun Run held on Sunday 6 August in support of the KL Car Free Morning (KLCFM), a green initiative by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur to promote healthy lifestyle and reduce carbon emissions.
After a long pause since the pandemic, Peace Road 2023 is back with the theme “Connect for Inclusiveness”. The event gathered people from all walks of life to celebrate multi-ethnic togetherness and peace with the spirit of muhibbah in the heart of KL city.
The event also saw 30 participants with special needs who turned up in wheelchairs with family members to join the peaceful morning stroll.
The Peace Road Fun Run, organised by Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia, is marking its 10th Anniversary this year.
During the closing ceremony, partners of the event comprising 18 NGOs and social enterprises received tokens of appreciation from Asst Prof Sudesh, President of UPF Malaysia. The partners also expressed support for the efforts of Rasuah Busters to establish a corruption-free Malaysia.
Participants received goodie bags and enjoyed energetic dance performances, a martial arts demonstration, and a lucky draw. The event concluded with an excited crowd waving their Jalur Gemilang flags while singing a patriotic song in conjunction with the August Merdeka month.
