Interfaith Harmony Week 2016 “A Day of Pilgrimage to Place of Worship”

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—UPF-Malaysia commemorated UN World Interfaith Harmony Week by organizing a one-day pilgrimage to places of worship on February 27, 2016.

The program began with welcoming remarks, given by Tan Sri Dr. Devaki Krishnan, president of UPF-Malaysia, and an orientation, at the Peace Embassy.

The first place the participants visited was the Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple in the Sentul area of Kuala Lumpur, where a senior monk of the temple spoke about the Buddhist faith.

Next, they visited the Gurdwara Sahib, also in Sentul. Elder Harcharan Singh, a trustee of the gurdawara (a Sikh place of worship), shared about the Sikh faith.

The last place the participants visited was the Masjid Wilayah mosque. A representative explained why Muslims pray and the basic tenets of Islam. The participants also learned how to perform prayers.
