On 29 March 2023, Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Malaysia and World Humanitarian Drive Malaysia co-organised a webinar with the theme, Confessions and Compliments in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2023. Six prominent women leaders representing various sectors were interviewed for their enduring achievements in their respective disciplines.
For UPF Malaysia, the National President, Asst Prof Sudesh Balasubramaniam gave the welcome remarks where he lauded the partnership as well commended the important role of women. While for WHD Malaysia, Prof Dato Dr GP Doraisamy gave the opening remarks. The session was moderated jointly by Dr Cherry from WHD and Pia from UPF.
The UPF Malaysia guest speakers included Prof. Dr. Umah Rani Kuppusamy from University Malaya, Puan Norhayati Noordin, from Rasuah Busters, and Ms Annie Ling from Personality and Human Relations (PRH) Malaysia.
The three speakers from WHD Malaysia included Ms Preeti Dubey from Rotary Club of Singapore Heartlands, Singapore, Dr Leena from Yemen Women Refugees in Malaysia (UNHCR) and Prof Dr Dana from Central Luzon State University, Philippines.
Also playing the role as a caregiver of the family, the women leaders confessed their struggles and challenges in juggling between work and family life while pursuing their careers. They highlighted the importance of receiving support from their families and community as one of the key factors in determining their success. Each speaker also passionately shared about their endeavours and aspirations to improve the well-being of the community through their respective fields including good governance, education and social empowerment.
