31 May 2022, UPF, WFWP, CPF, AAM and TIMD Malaysia jointly hosted a Raya Dinner Gathering at the Peace Embassy. The dinner was held to welcome the Co-Chair of UPF Asia Pacific, President Masaichi Hori and the Director of UPF SEA, Dr Julius Malicdem and as an appreciation and networking dinner with over 40 guests and partners.
Ms Yee Wen, Assistant Secretary of UPF Malaysia hosted the event as the emcee and welcomed all to the gathering in the spirit of togetherness, peace and love of Aidilfitri.
Dr Amir Farid Isahak, chairman of InSaf Interfaith Fellowship and member of Board of Advisors, UPF Malaysia offered a doa to bless the occasion. Datuk Pahamin Rajab, representing the Board of Advisors of UPF Malaysia gave the welcome remarks. He shared about his journey with UPF and thanked the UPF Malaysia leadership for being active despite the pandemic.
Mr Lai Peng Keong, Director for National Liaison UPF, introduced President Hori. President Hori, in his remarks, recognised the collaborative works of the peace movement in Malaysia despite the pandemic. This is his first visit to Malaysia and shared about his pleasant encounter with the diversity of Malaysian culture. Dr. Julius later expressed his hopes for Malaysia to organise a leadership conference at Asia Pacific level, as an opportunity for leaders in the region to come together, exchange ideas and contribute in peace building initiatives.
The hosts Asst Prof Sudesh Balasubramaniam, Madam Lina Cheng, Mr Ng Shu Lin, Dr Suhaizy, Ms Goh representing UPF Malaysia, WFWP Malaysia, CPF Malaysia, TIMD Malaysia and Ajar Ajar Malaysia took turns to thank their partners and associates.
The merriment continued with Mr Albert and Mr Lito belting out a number of songs.
Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah, Deputy Chairman of the Karangkraf Media Group, Advisor of Rasuah Busters, and member of UPF Malaysia board of advisors gave the closing remarks and appealed all to collaborate to promote family values, peace and universal harmony for a peaceful Malaysia.
