On 4 June 2022, Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Perak Chapter and Rotary Club of Kinta jointly organised the Malaysia Leadership Seminar (MLS) with the theme ‘Selfless Leadership Creating Sustainable Peace for Family, Society, and Nation.’
The event was held at the Kinta Riverfront Hotel, Ipoh, Perak in conjunction with an Ambassador for Peace award ceremony.
Mr Andrew Thambiah, the emcee, welcomed over 150 representatives from government, NGOs, businesses and academia in the packed hall.
Mr. Letchumanan Doraisamy as the MLS co-organising chair gave the welcome remarks and thanked all the participants and well-wishers for making the event a grand one.
YB Tuan S. Kesavan, MP for Sungai Siput, in his welcoming remarks highlighted his participation in various UPF events internationally and locally and acknowledged its peace building initiatives. He highlighted the increasing public alarm over the current state and encouraged all to work closely with the Government to foster unity and harmony for a better Malaysia.
In his congratulatory remarks, YB Tuan V. Sivakumar, MP for Batu Gajah, commended UPF on its consistent efforts to promote sustainable peace by strengthening the marriage and family institution.
President Masaichi Hori, Co-chair of UPF Asia Pacific, who hails from Japan and is visiting Malaysia for the first time in his official capacity, shared his remarkable experience of unity in diversity of Malaysia over the few days he has been here in Malaysia. He highlighted the co-founder, Mother Moon’s vision for global peace through the principles of Mutual prosperity, Interdependence and Universal Values and encouraged all to participate in the global endeavour for peace.
The Ambassador for Peace Award Ceremony was hosted by Mr. Tan Khim Lai, Deputy President of UPF Malaysia. Seven leaders from the Parliamentarian, Humanitarian and Social Service and Youth categories were called to the stage to receive the prestigious International award presented on behalf of UPF International by President Masaichi Hori and accompanied by UPF Malaysia President, Asst Prof Sudesh Balasubramaniam.
After the awards, five distinguished speakers spoke on the theme of this leadership seminar. They were:

Mr Joachim Ng, Vice-president of UPF Malaysia, Mr. Nagalingam Munisamy and PP SR Natharaja of Rotary Club, moderated the presentations by the speakers.
The seminar served as a fundraiser for the Circle of Light humanitarian aid and included cheque presentations from YB Tuan Kesavan and YB Tuan Sivakumar. Lively dancers from Yencci Dance Fitness Studio presented traditional dances and Madam Lina Cheng, President of Women’s Federation for World Peace Malaysia, presented the Studio Instructor and the dancers token of appreciation and certificates.
Dr. Vejayan Sinnasamy, Co-Chair of the Organising Committee thanked all for their participation and contribution towards the success of the event.
